According to Array Magazine, it’s took a village for us to conceptualize, develop, design and build this former West Village nightclub into an authentic German day-to-night hotspot, then do it again 3 months later.
We met the owner, a native Southern German, just as he was dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s on the lease of the West Village triangular stand-alone building. A challenge from the beginning but an exciting one, Cenk Fikri Inc. began to develop the owners general idea of owning a “German bakery in NY” into something that was viable, relevant, stylish and worked with the NY market. The strategy from the beginning was to bring authentic breads & baked goods from Germany and introduce them to the US market with the intention of expanding at a rapid pace. We knew we wanted to extend the idea of a simple
bakery and introduce German beers & wine to create a day-to-night space which upheld it’s authenticity while still feeling current in a NY market – the home of it’s first & flagship location. We pulled our team together and worked to create a clean bright NY space with authentic German traditions, beautiful undiscovered cloister brews, a curated regional wine list and a custom glass dumbwaiter to ceremoniously carry down the sweets, brezeln and breads as they are hot & ready from the bakery upstairs.
